Staying cool

Henry and his Aunt Ashley during his first spray park experience.

The temperatures are reaching triple digits, but the Crown Center fountain is out.

Kansas City has plenty of opportunities to get your splash on for those hoping to survive the rest of the summer heat. Henry has been the best excuse to throw my running clothes on and run through the sprays. It’s for him, I promise!

Here are some on my list to check out:

Loose Park
The sprayground off 51st and Wornall features all sorts of colorful spray guns and sprinklers. Bring a picnic to enjoy in the nearby shelters while you keep a close eye on the kids. There are big and small sprays  to accommodate all ages.

John Anderson Splash Park
Grandview, Mo.
This park features water cannons, sprays with coordinated animal sounds, a 13-foot high whale and an I-Spy storm. Features galore!

Sunnyside Park
Small but good for the little guys.

Adventure Oasis
It costs money and is alllll the way in Independence, MO. but this water park has a lazy river, toddler area, slides and a playground.

How are you staying cool and avoiding the triple-digit heat?

In her non-existent free time, she’s running, eating popcorn and blogging about it all at The Gatsby Diaries.
