500 meter swim, 10 mile bike, 3 mile run

Smithville Lake

After the pour down and hour delay Saturday morning, the WIN for KC triathlon kicked into gear. With a total of 718 participants, all 718 crossed the finish line with an average of 1 hour and 31 minutes – ranging from 12 years of age to 71 years old. Check out the race results! On top of that, this local triathlon received official certification as a green race by the Council for Responsible Sport (ReSport), an organization that provides an independent, comprehensive certification for sustainable athletic events. WIN for KC has a goal of engaging thousands of women and girls in athletics … through programs, camps and events like this. Seeing that sports have played such an important role in my life; it only makes sense to spread the word and passion for competition and athletics to the younger generations. I was more than honored to be a sponsor of this years’ triathlon and witness such an incredible and emotional accomplishment made by each of these women!

ladies in pink!!!!

As I sit here comfortably in my air conditioned office; I flirt with the idea of hitting the outdoors. Now, I enjoy a good sweat in my Pilates class, but taking that outside is another story. Whew! This Saturday, July 30th is the annual WIN for KC Triathlon at Sailboat Cove Park on Smithville Lake, in Smithville, Missouri. The race will begin at 7:30am and consist of a 500 meter swim, 10 mile bike and 5K run. I am excited to be a sponsor and cheer on the thousands of girls and women participating in this run! I will be their bright & early with my game face on (and sunscreen)! At the end of the race, there will be an Awards Ceremony to honor the participants of the race and we’ll be giving away another Girlfriend Getaway. For you swimmers, bikers and runners out there – here’s a few hot spots in town to do just that: Shawnee Mission Park Lake (swim, bike, run), Tomahawk Creek Trail (run, bike), Overland Park Arboretum (run, bike.) Can you think of any other good places to go?
