Signs of a Bad Transmission

May 16, 2014
Don’t wait till the last moment! Look for the warning signs of a bad transmission before it’s too late.

1. Noises: If you’re hearing a clunking or whining noise, it’s usually a sign that you have an issue with your vehicle. Listen to what your car is trying to tell you.

2. Leaks: Red fluid on your driveway could mean two different things: you ran over some road kill or a troubling transmission.

Screen Shot 2014-05-15 at 4.43.03 PM

3. Smells: Have you ever smelled that gross burning smell? That usually means low fluids, which is a result of overheated transmission fluid.

Screen Shot 2014-05-15 at 4.47.18 PM

4. Hard time shifting: If your car is a manual and you’re having a hard time shifting it could be a warning sign.

5. Check engine light: Last but not least, if the check engine light comes on.

Make sure to seek repairs as soon as possible if you are experiencing any of these warning signs.

Up and Coming: 2015 Nissan Murano

May 9, 2014

Screen Shot 2014-05-08 at 10.20.26 AM

It’s been awhile since I talked about a new up and coming vehicle. This week I want to spotlight the all-new 2015 Nissan Murano, that is coming late 2014.

Nissan has redefined the crossover. Again. They first introduced us to the Murano in 2002. A vehicle unlike any other, it was a combination of utility and style. Edmunds.com stated in early April 2014, “(2015 Murano’s) bold new styling is bound to get you noticed in a way that few other SUVs will.”

Now they have made the Murano even better! I’ll let you in on some of the features it has to offer.

wd

1. Safety Shield- I believe this is one of the coolest features. The Murano warns you of any blind spots, predicts forward collisions, carries forward emergency braking, and provides intelligent cruise control.

2. Heated steering wheel, which every person in Kansas City will need during those cold winter months! A cool thing about this heated steering wheel is that it can be turned on remotely. Talk about convenient.

3. Advanced driving assist display (ADAD)- This feature is practically the size of a mini tablet and has every feature you can imagine. It lets you know about your tire pressure, fuel stats, weather, traffic, and can even be an extra pair of eyes for you on the road.

There are so many features in the new 2015 Nissan Murano, check it out online and get ready for an amazing crossover!

Easter Egg Time!

April 18, 2014

PicMonkey Collage.jpg

I have always loved the Easter season! This year I wanted to get a little bit creative with my dyed eggs. I have searched the Internet looking for the most unique and fun ideas, and here they are!

#1. The first one is a great way to make a mini terrarium inside an Easter egg. What’s a terrarium, you ask? Terrariums are glass containers filled with plants and flowers, and are fantastic mobile planters that can be hung around your home. Learn more on how to make these darling eggs here:

http://www.thehousethatlarsbuilt.com/2013/03/how-to-make-easter-egg-terrariums.html

#2. I just love this idea of making graffiti eggs. This blogger decorates these eggs with acrylic paint. I have also seen some bloggers paint eggs with watercolor. Learn more with this link: http://www.papernstitchblog.com/2013/03/27/make-this-graffiti-inspired-easter-eggs/

#3. Looking for a little glam this Easter season? Check out these gold flake eggs! So easy to do as well. All you need is dipped dyed eggs wrapped in gold flake paper. http://littleinspiration.com/2014/02/diy-gold-leaf-eggs.html

#4. Last but not least are these darling marbled eggs. “How?” you ask! You can achieve this look with nail paint! Just like marbling finger nails with water and nail polish, the artist was able to achieve those stunning eggs with the same logic and idea. http://littleinspiration.com/2014/02/diy-nail-polish-easter-eggs.html

Which method will you try this year?

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer

September 27, 2013
Happy Friday, everyone! Aren’t you so excited that it’s officially fall? October is hands down my favorite month, so there are absolutely zero complaints on my end right now. oct Also, isn’t this a fantastic quote!? ^^ *** Anyways, now on to much more important things.
Each year Chevrolet takes a Camaro Coupe and wraps it in pink to support the “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer” cause in October.

From there, the car then transitions to events across Kansas City and Chevrolet dealerships!

We JUST learned that McCarthy/Morse Chevrolet, one of our two Chevy stores in Overland Park, KS on Metcalf Avenue, will have the car on display beginning tomorrow morning at 8 a.m. through Monday morning, September 30th, at 10:00 a.m.!! Do us a favor and stop by this weekend to have your photo taken around or inside the car. Posting those photos to either my Facebook page or the McCarthy/Morse page will enlighten other people of the awesome cause!
Plus, if folks want to make a donation, all donations accepted will be given to the American Cancer Society to support those that are fighting the battle against breast cancer.
What do y’all think — can you help out with this awesome cause??

McCarthy + Mavericks = Magic!

September 24, 2013
In case you didn’t catch my Facebook post yesterday morning, I have some super cool news to announce on behalf of McCarthy Auto!
McCarthy Blue Springs Hyundai (from Blue Springs, MO) will be the exclusive Automotive Dealership Sponsor with the Missouri Mavericks Hockey Team for the 2013/2014 season!
Pretty cool, eh? We sure do love our Mavs, so sponsoring them is an added bonus! You can find out all the cool team information at www.missourimavericks.com. Make sure you check it out! 🙂 And one last question for you… How do you prepare a hockey rink for the 2013-2014 hockey season? With GoPros and paint cans, of course. Check out this sweet video of the preparation of the Missouri Mavericks Hockey arena! It’s extra cool, because they filmed the time lapse of the event — a process that took 18 hours, beginning bright and early at 7 a.m. on August 30, 2013. The season officially begins November 2 at 7:05 p.m.! Go Mavericks!

Auto Show Recap

March 13, 2013
The Automobile Dealers Association of Greater Kansas City has many roles here on a local level. In a nutshell, our mission is to advance, educate and encourage public interest. And our claim to fame is owning and producing the Kansas City International Auto Show each year. The theme behind this year’s Auto Show, which took place last weekend, was “IMAGINE.” The purpose was to showcase 500+ vehicles under one roof. No dealerships, no salesmen, just good ole’ cars! Some special attractions were Electric Avenue; which was a collection of the newest plug-in electric vehicles from all the major automakers. Chevy Music Showcase offered local bands, like Soft Reeds & The Silver Maggies, to provide a little rhythm while we were scoping the cars. Among other attractions were a Chiefs exhibit and an Interactive Army Exhibit.

Jenna with KSHB

From the perspective of an Auto Dealer, the show was a success. Attendance was up 17% and ticket revenue up 24%. Chevrolet was the overall Best of Show, and the Favorite Vehicle was the 2014 Chevy Impala; Favorite Exhibit was Ford, and the Favorite Consumer Experience was the KC Auto Museum’s Classic Cars. 2014 Chevrolet Impala It’s always great to see an interest in the automobile industry here on a local level. Makes me proud! Stay tuned! Next year’s Auto Show ChairMAN is yours truly!!!
