Up and Coming: 2015 Nissan Murano

May 9, 2014

Screen Shot 2014-05-08 at 10.20.26 AM

It’s been awhile since I talked about a new up and coming vehicle. This week I want to spotlight the all-new 2015 Nissan Murano, that is coming late 2014.

Nissan has redefined the crossover. Again. They first introduced us to the Murano in 2002. A vehicle unlike any other, it was a combination of utility and style. Edmunds.com stated in early April 2014, “(2015 Murano’s) bold new styling is bound to get you noticed in a way that few other SUVs will.”

Now they have made the Murano even better! I’ll let you in on some of the features it has to offer.

wd

1. Safety Shield- I believe this is one of the coolest features. The Murano warns you of any blind spots, predicts forward collisions, carries forward emergency braking, and provides intelligent cruise control.

2. Heated steering wheel, which every person in Kansas City will need during those cold winter months! A cool thing about this heated steering wheel is that it can be turned on remotely. Talk about convenient.

3. Advanced driving assist display (ADAD)- This feature is practically the size of a mini tablet and has every feature you can imagine. It lets you know about your tire pressure, fuel stats, weather, traffic, and can even be an extra pair of eyes for you on the road.

There are so many features in the new 2015 Nissan Murano, check it out online and get ready for an amazing crossover!

Easter Egg Time!

April 18, 2014

PicMonkey Collage.jpg

I have always loved the Easter season! This year I wanted to get a little bit creative with my dyed eggs. I have searched the Internet looking for the most unique and fun ideas, and here they are!

#1. The first one is a great way to make a mini terrarium inside an Easter egg. What’s a terrarium, you ask? Terrariums are glass containers filled with plants and flowers, and are fantastic mobile planters that can be hung around your home. Learn more on how to make these darling eggs here:

http://www.thehousethatlarsbuilt.com/2013/03/how-to-make-easter-egg-terrariums.html

#2. I just love this idea of making graffiti eggs. This blogger decorates these eggs with acrylic paint. I have also seen some bloggers paint eggs with watercolor. Learn more with this link: http://www.papernstitchblog.com/2013/03/27/make-this-graffiti-inspired-easter-eggs/

#3. Looking for a little glam this Easter season? Check out these gold flake eggs! So easy to do as well. All you need is dipped dyed eggs wrapped in gold flake paper. http://littleinspiration.com/2014/02/diy-gold-leaf-eggs.html

#4. Last but not least are these darling marbled eggs. “How?” you ask! You can achieve this look with nail paint! Just like marbling finger nails with water and nail polish, the artist was able to achieve those stunning eggs with the same logic and idea. http://littleinspiration.com/2014/02/diy-nail-polish-easter-eggs.html

Which method will you try this year?

How to Autumn-ize Your Car

October 8, 2013
It’s October! When it comes to fall, I’m one of those people who bursts at the seams with all of the autumn traditions and smells and opportunities. And that’s why I’m creating this specific blog post about making your car as fall-ish and fantastic as possible! 🙂 My tips are simple but great! spicedcinaut First up, it’s time for all the classic autumn smells! My personal favorites: spiced pumpkin and apple cinnamon. (The smell of a bonfire is another favorite of mine, but a lot of people don’t enjoy it as much as I do, so I’ll set those differences aside.) To make your car smell more like the wonderful season that is the fall, head to your nearest grocery store and stock up on some yummy air fresheners! Both you and your passengers will thank you for your go-getter mentality for a great-smelling vehicle! trutruckdog Next, store some comfy blankets and sweatshirts in the back of your car! Any evening adventures of star gazing or bonfires (!!) or a drive-in will call for warmth, so stay on top of it by always having extra clothing and blankets in your vehicle. You could even go 110% and bring a MATTRESS so you’re totally and completely comfy! lwtklwtlw Share the gift of giving! October has a lot of opportunities to give back, and McCarthy Auto is all over that! Presenting three different ways you can share your wealth 🙂 First,  October is Breast Cancer Awareness month! For every new and pre-owned vehicle sold at any of the six McCarthy Auto locations, $10 will be donated to the American Cancer Society’s Hope Lodge in downtown Kansas City! Next up, take the pledge! McCarthy Auto is teaming up with PrepsKC to “Take the Pledge to Not Text and Drive.” Check out http://prepskc.com/take-the-pledge.php to take the pledge and vote for your favorite local high school! The school at the end of October with the most amount of pledges will be awarded $5,000 to the football program courtesy of McCarthy Auto Group! And finally, show your hockey love! Grab your season tickets now and go check out some Missouri Mavericks games — McCarthy Auto is a sponsor!! Three cheers for October!!!

Take the Pledge!

September 18, 2013
The Virginia Tech Transportation Institute has found that “text messaging creates a crash risk 23 times worse than driving while not distracted.” It breaks my heart to know that people are so willing to put themselves into danger and not even think twice about it. That’s why I’m happy to share some HUGE news! McCarthy Auto is teaming up with PrepsKC to Take The Pledge To Not Text & Drive. Too many people are texting and driving these days, and it’s not okay. Our goal is a simple one: Starting October 1 through October 31st, fans have the opportunity to log onto PrepsKC.com and take the pledge to not text and drive. That pledge is a promise to never be on your phone while behind the wheel, as well as a promise to encourage all within your social reach to do the same. In addition to this pledge, you’ll also have the opportunity to vote for your favorite Kansas City-area high school’s football program. At 5:00 p.m. on October 31, the school with the most pledges will win $5,000 for its football program, courtesy of the McCarthy Auto Group. More than anything, though, we want you all to be safe on the road. If even one accident from texting and driving is avoided, we’ll consider our campaign a success. The contest starts Oct. 1 and you’re able to vote up to three times per day per IP address! All you’re going to have to do is go to www.prepskc.com (look for the ad at the top right part of the page!) and vote, vote, vote! Take a gander at what you’ll start seeing October 1st below! 🙂 pledge

Driving safely in the rain

July 24, 2013
The weather in Kansas City is looking a little rough and stormy this weekend, so I’m offering up what safety advice I have, as well as any comments you guys posted on my Facebook page, concerning driving in the rain! For the most part, your (very helpful!) comments suggested keeping your headlights on, keeping your wipers on, driving more slowly than you normally would, and keeping a bubble of space between your car and the car in front of you. Very great and very safe advice — thanks so much! Screen Shot 2013-07-24 at 1.54.31 PMScreen Shot 2013-07-24 at 2.35.56 PM Now to expound on your advice, as well as some of my own! 1. Headlights on: Yes, it’s easier to see when your lights are on, not only when it’s nighttime, but also in foggy or overcast weather. BUT it’s also important to not just consider your own car, but other cars as well. Keeping your headlights on allows other cars to see you better. 2. Keep your personal space: This is important, especially during rainstorms. With water on the road everything is a lot more slick, meaning it takes quite a bit longer to do anything, namely stop. It’s recommended to keep five cars’ space between you and the car in front of you. Also, keep an eye not only on the car’s brake lights in front of you, but also a few cars ahead as well. That way it’s easier to know when people are stopping. 3. Hydroplaning: The first time I ever hydroplaned, I had no idea what was going on, and it was the scariest thing. “Hydroplaning occurs when water on the roadway accumulates in front of your vehicle’s tires faster that the weight of your vehicle can push it out of the way. The water pressure can cause your car to rise up and slide on top of a thin layer of water between your tires and the road.” To avoid hydroplaning, it’s important to not make any sudden movements; stop sooner and start slower. That will prevent skidding as well! 4. 20/20 vision: If it’s foggy or chilly out, make sure you hit your windshield defroster so as to avoid any obstructed vision. Perfect vision through your windshield is a number one priority when driving in the rain! 5. Windshield wipers: Make sure your wipers are in shipshape! As soon as you start noticing signs of them becoming streaky or ineffective, it’s time to get new ones! This goes back to having clear, unobstructed vision while driving. 6. No cruise for you: Cruise control isn’t recommended while driving in the rain. Keeping it on means your car is focused simply on keeping that speed up. Keeping your car on cruise control means you aren’t fully focused on your own speed, and it might draw your attention elsewhere. 7. Know your limits: If the rain is really coming down, don’t be ashamed to pull over and wait out the rain. I’ve been in some crazy rainstorms, and yes, I’ve pulled over before because I just didn’t feel safe driving. No one is going to judge you for staying safe. Be careful out on the road, folks!

Go-go gadgets for your car!

July 10, 2013
The future is now, and despite the fact that I’m still waiting for YouTube videos to buffer (come on, YouTube professionals! I wanna watch Miley Cyrus’s new music video again!), there are some pretty stinkin’ cool advancements in the world of car technology. A lot of these items may be completely unnecessary, but it’s still fun to see the items that people couldn’t stand to drive without, and thus chose to invent! 1. In-car steamer: Food is good. And this in-car steamer will make said food even more accessible! Plus, it comes with a recipe book!

2. Seat massager: Driving can be stressful, so why not fight those stress levels with an automatic seat massager? This sucker includes five massaging motors and heat wave therapy!

3. Batman brake lights: Need I say more? Now go drive like the dark knight. batman-brake-light-cover

4. Screens galore: So much for going anywhere with “an escape” in mind. I count six screens — six!

5. Electric windshield de-icer: Cut your time spent in the freezing cold in half with this baby! I seriously want one of these.

6. Car coffee-maker: Mornings are always hectic, and often the last thing you do is make coffee before sprinting out the door. Now you can cut down that time by saving the cup o’ Joe for your car!

7. Panoramic rearview mirror: No more blindspots for you! Now everything behind your car is in your sight. No one can escape.
