Signs of a Bad Transmission

May 16, 2014
Don’t wait till the last moment! Look for the warning signs of a bad transmission before it’s too late.

1. Noises: If you’re hearing a clunking or whining noise, it’s usually a sign that you have an issue with your vehicle. Listen to what your car is trying to tell you.

2. Leaks: Red fluid on your driveway could mean two different things: you ran over some road kill or a troubling transmission.

3. Smells: Have you ever smelled that gross burning smell? That usually means low fluids, which is a result of overheated transmission fluid.

4. Hard time shifting: If your car is a manual and you’re having a hard time shifting it could be a warning sign.

5. Check engine light: Last but not least, if the check engine light comes on.

Make sure to seek repairs as soon as possible if you are experiencing any of these warning signs.

Winning the Race!

September 6, 2011

Leading the Race!

“Stay off the grass!” Those four words became second nature to me last weekend at the “K,” where we rallied together for a 5K in support of Variety, the Children’s Charity. The only thing that compares to The Royals’ dedication to keeping an immaculate field is the commitment of the nearly 2,000 runners, walkers and strollers who came out bright and early to support a cause near and dear to my heart: helping children. Proceeds from the 5K will benefit Variety, which helps Greater KC kids with disabilities to stay on the move with specialized equipment, such as vans with lifts, adaptive bicycles, wheelchairs, prosthetic limbs, and more. What a great place Kansas City is! We were presented with a check for $50,000 for the kiddos! Thanks to all who came out and sweated the race with us. Stay tuned for more fun events with Young Variety.

Swim, Bike, Run

July 25, 2011

ladies in pink!!!!

As I sit here comfortably in my air conditioned office; I flirt with the idea of hitting the outdoors. Now, I enjoy a good sweat in my Pilates class, but taking that outside is another story. Whew! This Saturday, July 30th is the annual WIN for KC Triathlon at Sailboat Cove Park on Smithville Lake, in Smithville, Missouri. The race will begin at 7:30am and consist of a 500 meter swim, 10 mile bike and 5K run. I am excited to be a sponsor and cheer on the thousands of girls and women participating in this run! I will be their bright & early with my game face on (and sunscreen)! At the end of the race, there will be an Awards Ceremony to honor the participants of the race and we’ll be giving away another Girlfriend Getaway. For you swimmers, bikers and runners out there – here’s a few hot spots in town to do just that: Shawnee Mission Park Lake (swim, bike, run), Tomahawk Creek Trail (run, bike), Overland Park Arboretum (run, bike.) Can you think of any other good places to go?

Touch A Truck

July 18, 2011

sorry !!!!

BEEP BEEP! Ever dreamt of riding a combine, or honking the horn of a fire truck or perhaps just writing on your parent’s car? Yesterday would’ve been your day! Sunday at the Overland Park Convention Center, families celebrated the second annual Touch-a-truck event; where kids were entertained up to their eyeballs with trucks, tractors, Funky Mama and face painting! I was happy to be a presenting sponsor, allowing kids to check out some of our finest automobiles and simply just have fun!! A personal highlight of the day … seeing the Nissan Cube from start to finish after a long day of children’s artwork (erasable sharpees, of course)!

Best part … Free to the public with just (2) non-perishable food donations to Harvesters. Check out more pics on my flickr account! And join us next year!

A place full of women & food!

April 28, 2011
My third year in counting – sponsoring the Taste of Home Cooking School at the Pavilion at John Knox Village. A place full of women and food! Each year, I stand up in front of 800 women (and a few dudes) to share my passion for what I do. This year I decided to include the audience in a little contest – The Sniff Contest! Check it out! And thanks for playing! So, if you enjoy a night out with your gal pals, culinary tips and techniques, shopping and food – make sure you check it out next year at the Taste of Home!
