Wayside Waifs is Kansas City’s largest no-kill animal shelter, and my absolute favorite place on this earth! Not only does this place provide such a safe haven for the cutest animals, but they are also a charitable, independent, not-for-profit humane society and welfare organization.
Their purpose is simply to place adoptable companion animals in responsible homes. They achieve this by employing three key strategies:
- Providing temporary shelter for homeless animals
- Educating the public
- Developing partnerships, collaborating, and making strategic alliances
Founded in 1944, Wayside Waifs has been changing the lives of animals for many years. It sits on a 20 acre farm with an adjacent state-of-the-art facility, bringing their total acreage to 50 – an oasis for all of the beloved animals!
If you know me, you know that dogs have my heart. Supporting such an amazing organization has been an absolute pleasure! My mother and I had the honor of being event chairs for Wayside Waif’s 2017 Fur Ball Gala–Beach Pawty! I can’t wait until next year’s Fur Ball! If you haven’t been to one of their events yet, keep an eye out for the next one! They’re a tail-wagging good time.
