It’s been a rough year and everyone is deserving of a little vacay every once in a while. Let’s talk about where we are going this year … and more importantly the right way of doing it.
Before planning a trip, the first thing I do is make a list. Who is going, where are we going, what will we be doing and for how long? This way, you know what to pack and you can plan a budget. Having an itinerary is a safe way of staying on task. Plan, plan, plan, but expect the worse. Things do happen!
When it comes to packing, remember, less is more; so take ONLY what you need. And always have an emergency kit in your car … at all times. If you need more guidance, check out my previous blog on car safety kits.
If you’re heading to the Lake of the Ozarks, don’t forget some skin protection. I don’t know about you all, but I’m a fair-skinned redhead who requires a high SPF. So, pack some sunscreen, towels, suits, bugspray, and aloe (for the unfortunate ones).
And if you are traveling with children, you gotta keep them occupied. Bring a couple DVDs, grab a sing-a-long tape… anything to make the time fly by. Here’s some more information on keeping the kids happy.
But most importantly, have a ball!
Are you hitting the pavement for a summer road trip? Where are you going and what will you be driving?

Don’t forget to advise people to have their car checked out and make sure it can handle the extreme heat, the long driving times at those high temperatures, and that the air conditioner is fully functional.
Good call! Thanks for sharing!
That is very important … especially driving in these hot summers!
